BHS THEATRE DEPARTMENT - PARTICIPATION & ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- In order to participate in the BHS Performing Arts Department, a student must be in good academic standing, defined as a GPA of 2.0 and passing grades in 5 current classes. Grades will be checked prior to auditions, at midterms, and again at the end of each grading period. If a student is in academic jeopardy, involvement in the production – on stage or back stage – will be minimal.
- All student members of the cast & crew are expected to attend rehearsals and work days whenever scheduled, unless advance notice is given to the director or stage manager. All students are expected to attend all rehearsals during tech week and cast members as well as crew members are expected to participate in load in, cue-to-cue, and strike. Students must also always remain in supervised areas while at BHS for rehearsal or tech work.
- Students must remain in good behavioral standing with BHS and the Performing Arts Department at all times during the audition, production, and performance process. Students must follow all safety guidelines when rehearsing, performing, or working backstage as directed by all staff and supervisors. During this time of Covid, this includes wearing masks and/or social distancing per all guidelines. Inappropriate behavior – such as failure to comply with school rules, unsafe behavior, poor attendance, bullying, inappropriate social media posts, or representing the department poorly in any way – will result in a student’s removal from the cast or crew at the discretion of the directors.
